Primrose

Lanark’s Primrose is a female huacaya with a sweet personality and a nice body, but it was the beauty of her fiber that made us decide to add her to our breeding program. She also has a perfect bite and excellent conformation. Along with Lanark’s Latte, Primrose was one of the first two alpacas we ever bought. She now lives with our partners in the alpaca care DVD, Kate & Scott McKelvie at Alpacas of Sunset Fields. Primrose is the alpaca that gives birth to her white cria, Pendragon in our alpaca care DVD.

Her honey colored fleece is soft, yet her crimp is heavy and uniform. Her 2 year-old fleece won a 1st place ribbon at the Great Frederick Fair 2000 in a large class.

Primrose’s father was the famous and prolific sire Drambuie. His name is well known among alpaca breeders as a producer of numerous show winners and quality herdsires. Her mother was MA Krystal.

Primrose has faithfully reproduced the color of the sires she is bred to including producing black and gray! She is fawn but produced four beautiful, males for us, Teddy’s Peruvian Valentino, Nicholas Nickleby Beowulf (Black), and Mount Airy Pendragon. Val is a lovely chocolate brown color, Nickleby is a rose gray and Pendragon is white. She has also produced on lovely medium fawn female, “Fur Elise” born May 10, 2004, pictured below at 2 weeks, and one light brown female.

Fur Elise was sold to Autumn Star Alpacas, near Virginia Beach, VA.

Primrose is currently owned by our friends at Sunset Fields Alpacas.  She had a gorgeous female cria for them in 2006 whose name is Cinnabon.

In 2007, she gave them, the spectacular guy pictured below, Precipice.

Still waiting for an update about Primrose’s spring 2009 cria.
