Alpaca Herdsire Campion

Campion is owned by by Jim & Tara Beatty of
Yellow Rose of VA Alpaca Farm
(near Richmond, VA )

This male is from a well-known bloodline and he's a producer of champions, and this guy's produced more females than males!

ARI# 803600

Campion is a 1/2 Accoyo male out of Pperuvian Felix with super fine, coffee/rose gray fleece. His micron count at 2 years of age was 20.6. His bite is perfect and his conformation is excellent. He has a sweet disposition and has impregnated most of his "girlfriends" on the first try! He won First Place in the halter class at Estes Park in 1999. He won first place in the Get of Sire class at Frederick 2004 and 1st in Get of Sire in 2006! He is from Wyoming and there is little of this bloodline available in the Maryland / Virginia / Pennsylvania area. Date of birth: 7/25/98

Campion has sired many first place show winners in both halter and fleece! Look for some of them below.  He still has MANY years of breeding left in him!

If you are looking to add fineness and crimp to your herd along with good size and conformation, Campion would make a superb genetic contribution to your herd! This guy has "criated" fine fleeced, crimpy cria even out of coarse, flat dams and none of his many cria have been coarse or lacked crimp! Never "out of the mood", this guy gets the job done very quickly and with none of the fumbling of a younger male.

Campy was standing stud in Pennsylvania last spring at the request of some alpaca farms up there but now he'll be moving South to Beaverdam, Virginia near Richmond.

Offspring of Campion:

Below: Campion's latest offspring, "Mount Airy Pendragon" out of Lanark's Primrose. We are thrilled with the density, fineness and crimp of this guy and he's got great size for a four month old! The Accoyo blood of Campion is definitely on display here. Click here to see Pendragon's fleece - He was sold at 1 year of age. He won a blue ribbon in halter as well as a blue ribbon in fleece and a championship ribbon for "Best Crimp" at the Great Frederick Fair in September, 2006.

Campion's dam was Guenevere (Switzer-Land Puno x Talara). Previous owners Annie and Steve Segal said of Guenevere, "She has never had any problem birthing and the milk bar was always full for her cria."

Campion RULED at the Great Frederick Fleece Show September, 2006 - his son, Pendragon's fleece won a 1st place and "Best Crimp" (out of 22 entries), his son, VG's Special Dark won 1st out of 4 entries for his gorgeous dark fleece, and Campy's sons Misha and Gryffindor went 1st and 2nd in their fleece division. The judge considered both Gryff and Special Dark for the "Best Hand" award due to their awesome fineness.

Campy won big again when the halter show took place on September 22nd & 23rd taking 1st in Get of Sire class and his 3 male offspring won 2 firsts and a second in their halter classes.!
